Rationale
RATIONALE FOR PT2 FILM:
SCENE 1: Scene one starts with an establishing shot of the house. The camera will be panning and moving towards the house very slowly for a solid few seconds for the audience to know the location and to set the scene of the film. This establishing shot will be a wide shot to show most of the front of the house and to see a light coming from the kitchen but not showing the Girl Molly in the house. At this point all the audience knows is the setting of the film and that it is night time by the night lights and low lighting. For this establishing shot I will set up the lighting kit behind and around the camera not so they are seen in the shot but so it helps the camera get better quality of the house since it is night time and the quality can be a little bit foggy or blurry. In the establishing shot the bushes and trees will be seen in the corner foreshadowing the use of the bush for something suspicious. This scenes camera will be hand held while moving closer to the camera. The hand held camera will be a little shaky but not too much but this will add to the suspense build up. The sound we are aiming for is eerie and suspenseful which helps with the buildup to our main part of suspense. The establishing shot will transition from a fade to black/ cross dissolve and the end of the shot will fade out with black. This transition is slow for the beginning as there has been no plot yet and no in depth suspense. The slow transitions at the beginning are almost like a montage leading up to our big moment of suspense.
SCENE 2: Scene two is a close up shot of Molly holding the knife and cutting vegetables. This is a very vulnerable scene because of the innocent girl holding such a dangerous weapon. This shot is a close up of the vegetables getting cut by the sharp silver knife. The camera is handheld and close to the knife. The lighting is bright inside as the lights are on and can be seen from outside, We did mot set up a light inside as the natural light from the lights bought good balanced lighting. The sound we will aim for in this scene is suspenseful and eerie as Molly is holding a knife. The only character in this scene is Molly cutting the vegetables with the knife. The probs used in this shot is the knife and vegetables. Molly is wearing comfy clothes such as grey track-pants and a jumper with a white tee under which symbolises innocence and purity.
SCENE 3: Shot from outside window of innocent Molly cooking. This scene is a wide shot and the camera is hand held to make it look like a stalker is watching her from outside. The camera will be moving around a little bit to add to the fact that there is a stalker but not yet introduced. The lighting will be dark outside since it is night time but the inside will be bright because of the lights and the inside and kitchen can easily be seen from the outside. The sound we are aiming for is eerie so it makes sense to the audience that someone is stalking them which will connote with the camera movements. The only character in this shot is Molly in kitchen cooking.
SCENE 4: The camera with a wide shot sees the intruder walking towards Mollys house in very dark lighting since outside. The camera then switches to the intruders perspective to make it look like the intruder is walking towards the house. The camera pans right from the kitchen to the bushes where the intruder/ night stalker is standing and staring. Wide shot. Low lighting since outside. Camera is still on kitchen with Molly cooking in kitchen and then the camera pans to the right to see the intruder. Both Molly and the stalker is in this scene but in different shots.
SCENE 5: Close up of intruder taking photos of Molly. The camera looks through the phone almost. Not seen on camera but the intruder sends the photos to Molly which adds to the mystery and psychological side of the thriller since the audience will be questioning how the stalker got her number and address. Low lighting and close up shots. Intruder and the intruders phone are in this shot.
SCENE 6: Camera goes to Mollys phone when the pain comes up on the text. Close-up shot. Knife in corner. Handheld camera. Bright lighting since natural lighting from inside. The props in the shot is Mollys phone. In the scene Molly is very scared frightened and confused. Molly will be looking around and dialogue will be used in the scene " what the heck who is this" and looks around Frantically.
SCENE 7: The camera pans over to the right to see the girls face and her reaction close-up shot over the shoulder shot but still see her face. You can see the phone in the shot and the message the intruder sent which is the photo of Molly in kitchen. Again the lighting is bright sense inside.
SCENE 8: This shot is a wide shot from the inside kitchen looking outside where the photo was taken. There is nothing there. There is no one outside. The lighting inside is very bright which contrasts to the dark lighting outside with a very low lighting which could be hard to see the intruder. This shot will be a handheld camera. While Molly is frantically searching and looking outside the window to see who could have sent the photo she has knocking at the back door and suddenly turns her head. Molly is very frightened and confused which will be seen through the close-ups on her face.
SCENE 9: The camera feeds to the back of the house where the intruder is knocking at the back door. The girl is still in the kitchen freaking out. The shot The show uses a handheld camera to give the audience more of a scary feel since someone is watching Molly. There is a wide shot from the outside of the house which sees the intruder knocking at the door. We cannot see the intruders face which incorporates mystery into the thriller. The lighting is very low outside.
SCENE 10: Mid shot of the girl picking up the knife. Molly slowly walks to the back door with the camera following her which is handheld. The camera is moving with Molly. Molly is very scared therefore is walking very slowly with the knife in front of her. The lighting gets lower and lower as Molly proceeds to the back door as less lights are on. In the scene there will be a close-up shot from a low angle of Molly walking to the back door which gives point of view of molly walking while being scared.
SCENE 11: And made shot of Molly at the back door. The back door is halfway open. No one is there. Girl puts the knife on the table. And pokes her head out of the door to see if anyone is there. The camera is following Molly while she is doing this. The lighting is low. Suspenseful music will be in the background which foreshadows the leading up to something big.
SCENE 12: Mid shot/close shot over the shoulder of the girls face then to the intruder who is behind her. The girl hasn't noticed the intruder behind her. Molly's face will go out of focus and there will be a more clear close-up shot of the intruder behind her. The lighting is very low since the shot will be Shot from outside.
SCENE 13: A wide and close-up shot will be taken of the intruder grabbing Molly she's panicking and he grabs her face so she doesn't scream however in the background we can hear screams as she gets dragged back closer to the kitchen. The lighting is very low and we/ the audience won't be able to see the intruders face which adds to mystery.
