Props and costumes

PROPS AND COSTUMES:

PROPS:
For props we have decided to incorporate a gun as the killing machine. The gun will belong to the assassin who will prepare her equipment including the gun and be seen polishing her gun. The gun will be used by the assassin to kill the coder. Blood will be incorporated after the coder being shot.

Blood will be gushing and splashed everywhere after the shooting. The blood will be splashed over the wall and will be dripping down the wall as seen in a shot where the camera is facing the mirror. Here, the audience will be able to see the coder fall to ground. We will make our own blood from things we have at home and i will link the ingredients needed to make it down below.

INGREDIANTS:
1. corn syrup
2. red food colouring
3. cocoa mix

Access cards will be used in our film to symbolise that the 'bad guys' will get anything they want even the access cards that keep people safe and keeps intruders from entering. From using access cards the audience has an understanding of the codes the assassin is trying to get. They are very important and only few people know them. This contrasts to the access cards where they are kept by very little people almost like a passcode behind sworn secrecies. The access cards also represent the security measures the coder goes to protect these codes. City Impact Church uses access codes and key swipes so our team will be able to borrow these cards to make out film come to life and look/feel more realistic. This will feel real to the audience because the swipes and cards make diegetic sounds (beeps) that allow access to a certain room.

A phone will be used by Joe the boss in the first scene when he calls the assassin to kill the coder. We will use the bosses phone for this and on the other side of the call, the assassin will use their phone. (our actors have agreed to use personal phones). The real phones will give off diegetic sounds of the ringing making the thriller more realistic.

A mirror will be used to have a different camera angle. This mixes up the thriller giving the audience a different view with a different meaning behind it. The mirror in our Thriller will represent a deeper meaning in life. This will tell the audience that the coder had a seperate life to their coding work and has family and relations. The use of the mirror coordinating with a fade the black will diminish that feeling and side of meaning.

In scene 4, the boss will be seen spinning slowly on a chair. Church has many of this so we will be able to borrow it for our filming days. This slowly spinning boss on the chair creates suspense and almost lets the audience know that he is directing a very serious crime by organising the kill. The slow spinning chair contrasts to this kill and how fast it is going to happen. The slow and fast contrasts in our thriller connote to how the boss is getting people to do his dirty work for him which means he is in slow pace as all he does is organise it while on the other end the assassin has to carry out the murder for Joe which will all happen very fast.

COSTUMES:
For costumes our group has decided for the Boss, Joe to wear a black suit with a white shirt underneath. The suit represents power and status because during this crime/murder he gets to make one call and not have to worry about the mess of it but only the fact that it has been carried out or not. The suit represents money. This money connotes to the power and status we can see from Joe and the silhouette/ over the shoulder camera shot. This almost tells us that he is too 'important' to be seen in full by the audience. It also makes the audience question themselves who is it, who is calling in the first scene when his face is not shown. Being in shadow and in dark also helps us understand that he is the boss and overall organiser, that he does not get in the middle of the mess, that he wants to almost stay hidden in this crime to stay safe. Joe's suit is black because black represents evil. His suit will be crisp and clean which also represents high status and power and that he does not need to get his hands dirty. Overall, this black and white suit shows that he is mysterious and holds power.

The assassin will wear symbolic colours of black and red. The red represents death, fear and terror in contrast to our symbolic red hues and lighting which also represents death etc. These two reds contradict each other as they are both seen in the killing shot. The assassin (Ashe) will also be wearing black which represents darkness and evil. The dark colours will connote with the dark lighting and overall help the thriller become more suspenseful and anticipating.

Our coder will be wearing normal clothes such as a black top and jeans. A basic casual uniform for the coders. This casual uniform symbolises the innocence of the coder which suggests to the audience that the coder is not in the wrong and is only doing their job. The assassin is using this innocence to get to the coder and eventually kill her for the codes only the coder possesses.
